2nd Annual Goth Beach Party

Even goth kids need a little sun now and then. So come by Insideout (622 Central Ave. SW) on Friday, July 18 from 8:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. for the 2nd Annual Goth Beach Party. DJ Ren, DJ Batboy, DJ Moonside and DJ K.Oss spin up the goth, darkwave, dark dance, dark post punk, synthpop, witch house, horror punk and more to get you moving. Be sure to wear your best gloomy beachwear for a devilish time under the sun (and stars). Expect spooky pool floaties, black beach balls, inflatable coffins, tropical drink specials and plenty of morbid delights. Plus there will be vendors! This is a 21+ event. Tickets are $7.50 in advance (available at tickets.holdmyticket.com/tickets/447312). Be sure to slather on the sunblock. Goths burn easily.
Route 66 Summerfest

The City of Albuquerque’s Summerfest celebration comes to Nob Hill with Route 66 Summerfest. Central Ave. from Gerard Blvd. to Washington St. shuts down, accessible only to pedestrian traffic on the evening of Saturday, July 19 from 5 to 10 p.m. Four stages, countless food and drink vendors, local artisans and kids activities line the 1-mile strip, allowing folks to mix and mingle throughout the businesses in Nob Hill. As if that weren’t enough to lure you, the evening caps off with a concert by Los Angeles-based salsa/jazz/funk/reggae/hip hop band Ozomatli. And it’s all free!
The Dwarves

Infamous Chicago hardcore punk band The Dwarves plays Launchpad (618 Central Ave. SW) on Saturday, July 19 starting at 8 p.m. The band has been around since the mid-’80 and is as famous for its outrageous onstage antics as for its songs. After four decades, nudity, simulated (maybe) sex, self-mutilation and the occasional fist-fight (with either audience members or cops) may be a thing of the past for lead vocalist Blag Dahlia and cohorts. But they can still set eardrums bleeding. See them with Night Child, Prairie Dawg and Sacred 20’s kicking off the show. Tickets are $23.50 in advance (at tickets.holdmyticket.com/tickets/446821).
