World Seabird Day

Thursday, July 3 is the annual World Seabird Day, chosen to mark the last recorded sighting of the now-extinct Great Auk in 1844. The Albuquerque BioPark Aquarium (2601 Central Ave. NW) marks the occasion with a day dedicated to teaching about seabird diversity, the threats they face, their habitats and what you can do to help. There will be a special focus on laughing gulls featuring the BioPark’s resident seagull, Bagel, as well as a bonus station on penguins. Activities, games and story time add to the family/kids activities. It all happens from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Price is free with regular admission to the BioPark ($5 to $19.50). For more info, go to cabq.gov/artsculture/biopark/about-the-biopark/tickets.
