Of course there are plenty of delicious Turkish and Mediterranean dishes to taste at this year’s Albuquerque Turkish Festival. You’re definitely gonna wanna get in line for shish kebabs, gyros, lahmajoon, gozleme, kofta, salads and more. But there’s other stuff to enjoy on Saturday, May 3, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Raindrop Foundation Turkish Cultural Center (7901 Mountain Rd. NE, Suite A & E). You’ll also find Turkish artists practicing traditional crafts like ebru (water marbling), whirling Dervishes performing live on stage and an entire vending area featuring gifts, handmade souvenirs and more. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted.

Bernalillo County Open Space 25th Anniversary

Bernalillo County Open Space celebrates 25 years of managing the Albuquerque area’s important natural or cultural resources with a daylong party in the South Valley. Head to the historic Gutiérrez-Hubbell House (6029 Isleta Blvd. SW) on Saturday, May 3 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. It promises to be “a festive day of music, community, and connection to the land.” There will be food vendors, kids’ activities, dancers, demonstrations, historic house tours and more! New Mexican Marimba Band and Lara Manzanares provide the musical entertainment. 37th Annual Albuquerque Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival

The 37th Annual Albuquerque Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival returns to Balloon Fiesta Park (5500 Balloon Fiesta Parkway NE) on Saturday and Sunday, May 3 and 4. The two-day event gives visitors the opportunity to see and learn about many of the arts and athletics as well as the culture of nations like Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Brittany, Isle of Man, Cornwall and Galicia. There will be food, drink and entertainment from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. For a full schedule of dance, music, athletics and more, go to celtfestabq.com. Tickets are $25 for a single day adult or $20 for a single day child. Two-day passes run $40 for adults and $30 for children. Discounts are available with an online, in-advance purchase.
