These days the economy is as much a mystery as which crazy headline will pop up every morning. People are saving and stretching every penny they have, preparing for the impending doom looming over the stock market. However, New Mexicans are definitely willing to fork over some hard-earned cash for weed in 2025 and this year cannabis sales in the state have surpassed the 1.5 billion-dollar mark. Albuquerque tops the list in all-time sales by city with over $500 million, but you might be surprised to see places like Sunland Park racking up over $100 million in total cannabis sales to date. Today there are 260 approved cannabis retail locations in the Duke City. Here is how Albuquerque sales data compares to sales in the next top ten cities in New Mexico.

Although the industry has raked in some serious green for the state since legalization, and numbers at this time last year were the best they’ve ever been, sales numbers declined between December 2024 and February 2025. Adult-use sales in New Mexico jumped from $35,674,958 in February of 2024 to $39,464,523 in March, marking the highest numbers ever in a single month since the state’s first licensed sale of recreational cannabis in 2022. This year’s February adult-use sales were $33,580,445 — over two million less than last February, but almost six million less than last March’s record sales numbers. Data from 2023 until 2025 suggests sales numbers usually drop after Christmas time and bounce back just before the 4/20 holiday, so hopefully cannabis enthusiasts have stocked up this year in case the price of everything goes haywire soon.

Recent Total Adult-Use Sales by Month:

December 2023: $37,470,309

December 2024: $37,273,303

January 2024: $34,420,132

January 2025: $34,778,936

Feb 2024: $35,674,958

Feb 2025: $33,580,445
