Come out for an evening jam-packed with live rock ‘n’ roll, rhythm and blues, new wave and more, all to help provide a warm home for some brave beasts and cuddle-able critters. This Saturday, Jan. 25, rock out with  Radioblast — one of New Mexico’s coolest cover bands — at The Historic Lobo Theater for the Rock and Rescue: A Night For The Animals concert and fundraiser for Roots Animal Sanctuary.

“I try to help anyone who has this same agenda — raising awareness for animal abuse and trying to help animals in distress,” Rock and Rescue co-organizer Olivier Renard says.

Renard — who goes by the fitting nickname “Fox” — is an animal activist who endorses a vegan lifestyle and promotes vegan restaurants and businesses. He also shreds the guitar and sings for Radioblast. The band, which plays a diverse range of music from classic rock to contemporary hits, is known for its harmony-focused vocals.

“I’ve been vegan for about 13 years,” Renard says. “Vegetarian food can be a good alternative for everyone. It’s good for your health, for animals, of course, and for Mother Earth.”

Roots Animal Sanctuary is a Tijeras-based nonprofit providing forever homes for animals who have suffered from a range of misfortunes such as abandonment, abuse and neglect. The sanctuary is always looking for volunteers.

If you’d like to sponsor an animal through Roots Animal Sanctuary, you can do it for as little as $15 per month. A $25 per month donation will feed, house and provide vet care, medications, water, transport and other “unforeseen needs” to the animal of your choice. Dogs, cats, pigs, donkeys and even some lucky turkeys are available for sponsorship along with pictures of each animal on their website
