Breweries and bars have been hit particularly hard by ever-changing Covid restrictions. Sadly, some have simply closed (RIP: Broken Trail). But others have adapted with online ordering and curbside pickup and some, like Tractor Brewing, have even used the downtime to brew up some old favorites and experiment with new offerings.
In our inaugural edition of EatABQ’s video series, Tractor Brewing’s Jeremy Kinter gave Doug and Cade got a sneak peek (and taste) of Tractor’s monster Russian Imperial Stout, headed to taps this month. Jeremy Kinter says, “At 11 percent ABV, it will really warm you up from the inside out.”

IBU:This “Moon of the Dead” is a well-balanced imperial, notes of chocolate and raisin/apricot esters complimenting the ABV heat.
Also on tap for the season is a crowd favorite, Turkey Drool Brown and our own Cade Garrero’s fav, Hay Maker Honey Wheat.
And Tractor features a line of cocktails from their sister company Troubled Minds. Basically, there’s something for everyone for patio sipping, or package carryout.

IBU:19Turkey Drool is a brown style ale with a variety of complex flavors. Sour mahlab cherry pits, which have been used for centuries in the Middle East, provide notes of cherry. A blend of Mexican spices brings out a hint of mint and fresh vanilla finally brings it all together. Turkey Drool was featured in Extreme Brewing, A Deluxe Edition with 14 New Homebrew Recipes by Sam Calagione in which it states “Taste Turkey Drool once and be a fan forever.”

IBU: 11A light, honey-colored wheat ale made with local New Mexico honey. This crisp beer strikes of honey followed by a slightly hoppy aftertaste. s
So how has Tractor become such a staple in ABQ’s beer scene? To start with, they live, breathe and brew local. A 15 barrel brew of Haymaker Honey Wheat, for example, uses 80 pounds of locally-sourced honey and that means a good chunk of the dollars you spend on that pint flow back to local New Mexico farmers. Add in the brewery’s popular “Beer for a Better Burque” program benefitting the Transgender Resource Center and Blackout Theatre Company, and you start to get the idea that Tractor is interested in more than just good beer and making money.
