Albuquerque Film & Music Experience (AFMX), is offering two opportunities for filmmakers to pitch their work during the organization’s 10th anniversary events on Sept. 13-18. Christopher Lockhart (Executive Story Editor, Facebook’s The Inside Pitch; and he’s read over 60,000 screenplays in his career) hosts The Inside Pitch live. Lockhart, along with Joshua Michael Stern (Jobs, Swing Vote, Why Women Kill), Stewart Lyons (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Cleaning Lady), Karen Criswell (Executive Producer, BLKBX and former Vice-President of Operations for DreamWorks Studios), and Matthew McDuffie (HBO, Showtime, CBS, Fox and Warner Bros.) will hear pitches and offer constructive feedback. Both panels are for educational purposes and will provide valuable information to all participants.

“Inside The Inside Pitch” occurs on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 12:30-2:30 pm, at the National Hispanic Cultural Center’s Bank of America Theatre. Lockhart will take participants and the audience through crafting the logline, pitching your project – including do’s and don’ts, structuring your project, and attracting producers to your script.

If you’d like to submit loglines to consider discussing during this conversation must complete the form by 11:59 pm MDT on Saturday, Aug. 27. A limited number of loglines are selected for discussion.

“Perfecting Your Pitch” occurs on Saturday, Sept. 17, 3:30-5:30 pm at the National Hispanic Cultural Center’s Bank of America Theatre. The event is an opportunity for filmmakers and writers to practice pitching to Hollywood executives and producers. There are limited spots available.

If you’re interested in a pitch, you must complete the short form and upload a video pitch by 11:59 pm MDT on Saturday, Aug. 27. All submitters will be notified in early September.

“AFMX is committed to providing opportunities to  local filmmakers, musicians, and other creatives. As we grow, we will build more opportunities to elevate creatives in our area. We are also strongly focused on supporting students seeking careers in creative industries, and ensuring New Mexicans are competitive for above-the-line positions in film and music,” stated Ivan Wiener, AFMX Executive Director.

New Mexico filmmakers are encouraged to participate in these two opportunities and become part of the AFMX experience.
