The Village of Ruidoso says those who live in Eagle Creek and Homestead Acres should evacuate as the McBride fire begins to spread. Fire officials say the fire has spread to 1,000 acres as of Tuesday afternoon and is 0% contained. Multiple structures have burned including homes in Ruidoso. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Ruidoso Schools have evacuated all students from Sierra Vista School, White Mountain School, Ruidoso Middle School, and Ruidoso High School have been evacuated to the Ruidoso Convention Center.

The Ruidoso Convention Center has been set up as an evacuation center for those evacuating the area as well. PNM has cut power to areas of Ruidoso because the fire is burning near a transmission line that powers 18,000 customers. Village officials are also asking residents to conserve water.

This is the fourth wildfire to start in the past four days in New Mexico. High winds and drought conditions are fueling the blazes.
