Walk It Off
The monthly ABQ Artwalk returns to Downtown Albuquerque. With COVID restrictions at an end, Downtown and Barelas businesses can open at full capacity. Look forward to a wide selection of local artists to support, art exhibitions inside businesses, galleries to check out, local music to listen to and more. More than 20 galleries, restaurants, breweries and businesses are participating including Off Center Arts (800 Ave. SW), OT Circus Art Gallery (709 Central Ave. NW), Secret Gallery (807 Fourth St. SW), Tutera (317 Central Ave. NW) and Safe House Distilling Co. (616 Gold Ave. SW). A parking lot “artisan market” sets up shop at Seventh and Gold. It all takes place July 9 from 5 to 9pm. For a complete map of participating spaces, go to abqartwalk.com. The Healing of the Nations
We’re not saying there’s a direct connection. But New Mexico did just legalize the use of recreational marijuana. At the same time, Launchpad (618 Central Ave. SW) is hosting a major Southwest reggae/rock concert featuring local high desert reggae legends Mondo Vibrations, The Riddims, Burque SOL and DJ Buddafunk. Surely this conjunction of feel-good cultural events is reason to celebrate. This is a live, in-person, 21-and-over concert taking place July 9. Doors open at 8pm. Tangled Up in Lavender
The nonprofit Los Ranchos Art Cooperative is having A Celebration of Lavender on July 10 from 8am to 1pm at the outdoor Los Ranchos Art Market (6718 Rio Grande Blvd NW). There’s going to be a raffle and plenty of artist demonstrations. Customers will find beautiful and unique arts and crafts by local juried artists working in various mediums including jewelry, mosaics, pottery, fabric art, wall art, photography, metal sculpture, upcycled furniture and more. Get Bawdy
The Whiskey Sisters Present: Bawdy and Soul, a special all-burlesque revue starring Twirlisha Devine (from Bloomington, Ind.), gets down and dirty on July 10 at Black Cat Cultural Center (3011 Monte Vista Blvd. NE). This marks not only the triumphant return of the Whiskey Sisters’ productions, but the first burlesque show of the 2021-’22 Cabaret Season at Albuquerque’s new LGBTQIA+ center. Take the opportunity to enjoy a live, in-person show filled with soulful performances hosted by Santa Fe’s Coco Caliente. Featured performances include Lilith Stargazer, Annette Coquette, Violett Femme, Miss Conduct and Mayo Lua de Frenchie. General Admission is $15. VIP seating is $20. She’s a Wonder
Bernalillo County’s Movies in the Park series continues on July 10 at the Westside Community Center (1250 Isleta Blvd. SW) with a free public screening of the superhero fantasy Wonder Woman 1984. Feel free to bring blankets, lawns chairs, food and drinks. Alcohol, glass, dangerous items and recording equipment are prohibited. There will be a limited numbers food vendors on site.
