From the Floorboards
Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory is set to perform its first show of 2021. The performance streams live from Tablao Flamenco Albuquerque (located inside Hotel Albuquerque in Old Town) on April 9 and 10, starting at 8pm. Similar to a jazz club, a tablao is an intimate performance venue made especially for flamenco, consisting of a small stage surrounded by cafe seating where audience members can eat, drink and watch the dance performances. Sadly, the COVID pandemic has shuttered many of Spain’s traditional tablao venues. But this show is a perfect opportunity to experience that dynamic and spontaneous interplay between musicians and dancers in the privacy of your own home. Viewing passes are available now at nifnm.org/yjastros-current-season and provide online access to the livestream through April 17. Passes are $20 or $50, with part of the money going to support Yjastros Artist Fund. (Devin D. O’Leary)

Art in April
OT Circus is having its very first Art Market of the year on April 10 from 9am to 1pm. Eight local and socially distanced artists and makers will be set up in the gallery’s driveway at 709 Central Ave NW. Inside the gallery, you can view the ChilleHott & Dangr show, if you missed it at the opening on First Friday ABQArtwalk. Once you’ve checked out all the art at OT Circus, head on over across the street to the gallery’s “sister space” where you will find another eight artists set up outside in the parking lot! Masks are required, of course. For more details, go to facebook.com/events/186197936226976. (Devin D. O’Leary)

Dancing in the Dark
Alchemy and Headphone Dance Party present Dark in the Park on April 10 from 7 to 9pm. DJ K’Oss and special guest DJ Ren Adams (who will also be doing some cool visual projections) are there that night playing a mix of electro, industrial, EDM, EBM, new wave and post punk tunes. This masked and socially distanced dance party takes place in Altura Park (4100 Hannett Ave. NE), near Indian School and Washington. The three-channel radio frequency headphones that are provided have a very large range, so you can distance anywhere in the park and still stay connected to the music. This is a free event, but organizers will be taking donations for the DJs and also fundraising for the Albuquerque Indian Center. (Devin D. O’Leary)

The 25th Anniversary: KP3 Retrospective takes place April 10 from 2 to 3:30pm. Tickets are free, or $5 to $10 if you want to help support the longtime local arts organization.
