Beginning Monday, April 5, the New Mexico Department of Health will open up COVID vaccine eligibility to all New Mexicans 16 years old and up.
“President Biden directed states to make all adults eligible for vaccine by May 1. New Mexico will meet that mark nearly a month early,” said DOH Cabinet Secretary Dr. Tracie Collins.
The DOH will continue to prioritize vaccine invitations for Phase 1A, New Mexicans 75 years and older, and any New Mexicans 60 years and older with a chronic condition. But the DOH says they are opening up Phase 2 because providers in some parts of the state are not able to fill appointments within Phase 1A, 1B and 1C because they don’t have enough people registered. The DOH said that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention implied that states will get a “meaningful increase in vaccine supply over the coming weeks.,” in order to meet the demand.
On Thursday, the DOH announced that all New Mexicans registered at vaccineNM.org are now able to self-schedule their booster or second doses. Users who have received a first dose-either within the vaccineNM.org system or elsewhere-can login, choose their location and then select from booster appointments available to them.
