Woman Arrested Mid-Surgery For Posing as Doctor
A woman who is accused of posing as a plastic surgeon despite having no credentials was arrested mid-procedure in Florida.
According to People authorities were alerted that Alcalira Jimenez De Rodriguez was operating a plastic surgery without a license when a dissatisfied client contacted police. Vincenzo Zurlo told police that he had met Jimenez De Rodriguez through a mutual friend and had received BOTOX injections from her before undergoing rhinoplasty. Zurlo said the surgery left him in great pain, and the faux doctor offered to correct it. He said he was unhappy with the second surgery as well and was left disfigured. The operation cost him around $2,800. Zurlo said that he later discovered the woman wasn’t even a licensed surgeon after she gave him prescriptions for painkillers and antibiotics that were in a different doctor’s name.
“She cannot do my nose right, she prescribed me the medication from another doctor, she cannot find a solution to my pain; so something is wrong, something has to be wrong,” Zurlo told reporters.
Police investigated Jimenez De Rodriguez and, with the help of the Florida Department of Health, discovered that she was not licensed to practice medicine in Florida. An undercover officer approached the woman, and she offered advice on medical treatment. Officers reportedly arrested her while she was in the middle of performing another procedure on a different client.
Jimenez De Rodriguez has been charged with practicing medicine without a license and resisting arrest without violence. She is currently being held at the Miami-Dade County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
Vet Warns TikTok Users About Hot Sauce Challenge
A veterinarian has taken to TikTok to warn content creators that feeding dogs “chicken with hot sauce” is dangerous and abusive—no matter how amusing it may seem to humans.
Fox News reports that a TikTok trend in which users feed their dogs chicken topped with hot sauce for the purpose of recording the animals’ reactions has left at least one puppy in dire straits.
Last week a veterinary technician named Peter, who co-operates the popular TikTok account Peter & Jaycee, posted a video on the social media account that addressed the trend. “Alright, so you know that trend where you give your dog a piece of chicken with hot sauce on it to see what their reaction is?” he can be heard saying in the video before flipping the camera around to show a small dog wrapped in a blanket. “Well, this little guy got chicken with hot sauce on it. And then he got another piece of chicken with hot sauce on it. They just kept giving him more and more, because I guess his reaction was just so funny. But now he’s in the hospital with pancreatitis. So, stop doing trends with pets.”
Many users commented that they were appalled by the trend and expressed angry sentiments toward dog-owners who participated. Many of the users who previously posted videos of their dogs eating hot sauce have subsequently removed the videos, including the original content creator whose viral post started the trend.
However, millions of users reportedly continue to take part in the trend.
Experts say that feeding spicy foods to dogs can lead to a number of canine health problems including stomach pain, diarrhea, gas and excessive thirst.
WWII Ammo Box: “Blow the S— Out of Hitler”
A World War II-era ammunition box with an especially aggressive message was recently discovered in Utah.
According to 2KUTV in Utah, the Tooele Army Depot found a 77-year-old wooden ammo box with a special message while crews were destroying old ammunition. The U.S. Army post serves as a storage space for ammunition used in training and wartime.
At the bottom of one particular box a message was written directly on the wood: “May the contents of this box blow the s— out of Hitler.”
The base posted an image of the box on Facebook last week. “Sorry for the salty language,” wrote the base, “but when that message was scribbled inside a box of .50 cal rounds 77 years ago, we were a nation at war.”
The account said that crews would be destroying over 7 million more rounds of ammunition. “We are eager to see what else they find,” wrote the poster.
Woman Returns Library Book After 63 Years
Authorities at the Auberndale Queens Public Library in Flushing, N.Y., have decided to allow a woman to walk free after she returned a children’s book she checked out in 1957 along with a $500 donation.
The New York Times reports that Betty Diamond checked out Ol’ Paul, the Mighty Logger by Glen Rounds—a collection of Paul Bunyon stories for children—when she was 10 years old. According to the date stamped on the library’s card inside inside the cover, it was returned about 23,000 days late.
The book was left at the library along with a note of explanation and a $500 donation.
Wax Museum Removes Trump Statues After Assaults
Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks in San Antonio, Texas, has reportedly removed a wax figure of former president Donald Trump following a number of incidents in which patrons have punched the statue.
San Antonio Current reports that the wax museum was forced to take the statue off exhibit after it was repeatedly punched and scratched by angry visitors. “When it’s a highly political figure, attacks can be a problem,” said Clay Stewart, regional manager of the museum.
