New Mexico Congresswoman Deb Haaland has had quite the week. On Monday, a building-size projection of her, in her traditional Laguna Pueblo attire, was projected on the front of the US Department of Interior headquarters in Washington.
That, of course, was because on Tuesday and Wednesday she took her seat in the Senate Energy Committee as the first Native American nominee to head a federal cabinet department.
While she waited for a date for her Senate votes, she went back to the House on Thursday to preside over a portion of debate on the Equality Act.
While she was acting as speaker, Republicans tried to stop debate to honor Rush Limbaugh, conservative talk show host who frequently mocked gay men and featured a regular series on his radio show called “AIDS update” where he listed the names of AIDS victim and said they “got what they deserved.”
