The 13th Annual Albuquerque Film & Music Experience (Wed. 24 – Sun. 28, Film)

For 13 years, the Albuquerque Film & Music Experience (better known as AFMX) has brought film and music makers together with fans for a week-long, multi-media, audio/visual event. This year’s AFMX takes place Wednesday, Sept. 24 though Sunday, Sept. 28 at a variety of Nob Hill locations, including Guild Cinema (3405 Central Ave. NE), the Historic Lobo Theater (3013 Central Ave. NE) and *halflife digital (3215 Central Ave. NE). Expect features, animation, documentaries, concerts, networking events and a series of “Center Stage” conversations with various makers. For a full schedule of events, go to afmxnm.com. The 7th Annual New Mexico Prickly Pear Festival (Fri. 26 – Sat. 27 Festival)

There are few more homegrown products in New Mexico than the prickly pear fruit. Every year the historic Gutierrez-Hubbell House (6029 Isleta Blvd. SW) celebrates this humble yet delicious ingredient with an annual New Mexico Prickly Pear Festival filled with food, music, arts and crafts. check out the market with over 60 vendors selling all kinds of prickly pear eats, drinks and more. Get creative by painting your own prickly pear masterpiece with Susan Gomez Arts or taking a natural dye workshop from Kalyn Finnell showing folks how to make carmine red dye with the prickly pear cochineal bug. And in the evening adult attendees can learn how to whip up some classy prickly pear cocktails with Jessica O’Brien from Teddy Roe’s bar. It runs Friday, Sept. 26 from 2 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 for Friday, $15 for Saturday or $20 for both days.

Morgue & Krypt Horror Fest 2025 (Fri. 26 – Sun. 28, Festival)

Do you like scary movies? Well, have we got the event for you. This year’s Morgue & Krypt Horror Fest will get you in the mood for Halloween with celebrity guests from your favorite horror movies and shows, vendors selling creepy goodies, panels, screenings, workshops, cosplay contest, after hour events and more. This year’s gruesome guests include Doug Bradley and Ashley Laurence (Hellraiser), Lynn Lowry (Shivers, The Crazies), P.J. Soles (Halloween, Carrie) and David Howard Thornton (Art the Clown himself from Terrifier). The frights happen at Isleta Resort & Casino (11000 Broadway Blvd. SE) Friday, Sept. 26 (6 to 11 p.m.), Saturday, Sept. 27 (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and Sunday, Sept. 28 (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) Tickets (morgueandkryptabq.com/tickets) run from $30 for daily passes to $180 for VIP weekend passes.
