By Ken Scott, Democratic candidate for Bernalillo County Treasurer | As we approach the primary, the choice for Bernalillo County Treasurer is clear. I am Ken Scott, and I stand ready to serve you with a commitment to ethical leadership and integrity, grounded in recent and relevant experience and an innovative vision for our community. My campaign slogan, “Build a Better BernCo,” is not just a catchphrase—it is my mission and promise to each of you.

Having served as Deputy Treasurer and currently as Deputy Assessor, I have a unique and comprehensive understanding of both sides of the property tax process. This experience is critical because it ensures that I can hit the ground running, bringing both transparency and efficiency to the Treasurer’s office. My background in finance, highlighted by an MBA (finance) from the University of New Mexico, has equipped me with the expertise necessary to manage our county’s finances responsibly.
Ethical leadership is at the core of my campaign. During my tenure, I have consistently upheld the highest standards of integrity and accountability. These are not just ideals but practical necessities in maintaining public trust and ensuring that our tax system is fair and equitable for all.
I am committed to working collaboratively with everyone in our community. Whether you are a long-time resident or new to our county, whether you are a business owner or a family person, my office will always be open to you. I believe in listening, in dialogue, and in building partnerships that strengthen our community and move us forward together.
My ability to work with everyone is the reason I am endorsed by the Central New Mexico Labor Council, LiUNA and the Adelante Progressive Caucus. I am also endorsed by other community leaders such as Senator Harold Pope, Senator Antoinette Sedillo Lopez, Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen and several members of the Bernalillo County Commission.
As you consider your vote, remember that leadership is proven through action. My record speaks to a career dedicated to service, marked by ethical leadership and a passion to work together. Vote Ken Scott for Bernalillo County Treasurer, and together, let’s Build a Better BernCo.
