Former President Donald Trump hasn’t yet officially won the Republican nomination for president, but he’s already looking ahead to a November match-up against President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee.

To win, he has to get at least 270 Electoral College votes—38 more than he received in 2020. Most national polls show the presidential race in a virtual dead heat, but of course the presidential election is decided by electoral votes assigned by each state.

So which 2020 Biden-voting states does Trump think he can flip in 2024? Trump says he will can flip 5 states: New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Minnesota—and New Mexico.

Trump laid out that 2024 election prediction in an interview with Fox News on Sunday.

In case you forgot, Trump lost New Mexico by almost 100,000 votes—an 11 percent difference. Consistent with Trump’s predilection for making boastful and overconfident claims without data, he did not tell Fox News how he will flip those states.

Specifics of that plan might need to include some wizardry since Democrats hold every federal and statewide office in the state and hold a 21 percent voter registration advantage over Republicans.
