The Bernalillo County Department of Behavioral Health Services, Cumulus Media, the New Mexico Department of Transportation, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and Whitener Law Firm, announce details for a safe ride option for New Year’s revelers. The Take a Ride on Us program provides the community the ability to take advantage of a safe ride option instead of driving under the influence during New Year’s celebrations in which alcohol consumption is common.

The Take a Ride on Us campaign is offering 1,500 rides, beginning on Friday, Dec. 30, at noon through Monday, Jan. 2, at midnight. Participants can redeem the Uber code NYE22 to get the discount. Each code is good for 2 rides per person, $10 off per ride. The credit can only be used for rides and not Uber Eats, and the discount doesn’t cover tip.

Take a Ride on Us is the creation of Cumulus Media Albuquerque. The program has seen massive success through the incredible partnership of Uber, Bernalillo County, the New Mexico Department of Transportation’s ENDWI campaign, and Whitener Law Firm.

Bernalillo County has contributed $60,000 to this annual effort. The county’s financial contribution comes from liquor excise taxes – additional taxes that New Mexico retailers and consumers pay when purchasing alcohol. The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department collects and distributes the taxes to New Mexico counties on a quarterly basis.

The program has provided a safe ride option to more than 30,000 riders in Albuquerque since 2017. By drinking responsibly and using the Take a Ride on Us program, together, we can ENDWI.
