11-year-old Danica Appenzeller, from Albuquerque, raced in the 2022 UCI BMX Racing World Championships in Nante, France (July 26 – 31), and placed second in the “Cruiser” category for the “Girls 12 and Under” age group, earning the only silver medal and one of five overall medals in the Cruiser class for Team USA. The 2022 UCI BMX Racing World Championships is the most elite BMX race for amateur riders in the world.

Danica’s home track is Duke City BMX (a partner of Visit Albuquerque and the Albuquerque Sports Commission) and she continues to race on this track on her class bike following her performance at the world championships.
