ABQ BioPark visitors and supporters are invited to help name the new baby girl hippo at the Zoo. The New Mexico BioPark Society and sponsor Albuquerque Santa Fe Toyota Dealers are hosting a baby hippo naming competition while raising money for the Zoo’s hippo family.
This donate-to-vote naming contest is open to the public, and guests are invited to donate any amount to their favorite hippo name as often as they want. The hippo name that raises the most funds is the winner.
From a list of over 2,600 names submitted during the first portion of the competition, the hippo care team chose these final four names: Zia, Magdalena, Layla and Sienna. Starting Monday, August 30, fans of all ages can donate any amount in person or online (info below). The competition closes Friday, September 10. In-person locations: Zoo front entrance near gift shop, Cottonwood Café at the Zoo, Larry H. Miller American Toyota, Larry H. Miller Toyota Albuquerque and Toyota of Santa Fe.
