These days, to make a mark, you don’t need a message, just attitude! Preferably a bad attitude. You don’t need to stand for anything, have a plan or agenda, just be mean. Sound tough. Judge people harshly. Say horrible things about people you don’t like or who don’t have the same beliefs as you. You don’t need to be truthful. When has the truth gotten anyone anywhere? The bigger the lie and the louder you yell it, the more they’ll believe it AND remember your name!

And isn’t that what it’s all about? It’s working for Marjorie Taylor Greene and Josh Hawley! It certainly worked for the former President! Watching CPAC, there’s been very little the Republicans have said other than diminishing any voice that’s not theirs. They have no ideas or policies. Their only platform seems to be keeping anyone who doesn’t look like them or think like them from voting. Their agenda is making sure people of color are denied healthcare and equality. They’re pro-life unless it’s a life they don’t value. Then they have no trouble beating that person with our flag or a fire extinguisher. Are they discussing critical issues like getting our children back in schools or getting the vaccines out faster? No. They’re deciding who among them needs to be punished, banished or censured. They’re whining about Democrats who are focused on getting millions of Americans back to work and earning a paycheck that will allow them to live above the poverty level.

They complain about the true Republicans who are trying desperately to hold on to their moral integrity and calling out the lies of their so-called fellow Republicans who are flying to Cancun during life-threatening power failures, encouraging domestic terrorism and bowing down to their golden idol. In the meantime, Democrats are getting things done. But Republicans block their progress at every turn, even at a cost to the people they were elected to represent. Power, bigotry, pettiness and hate has never taken a country to a better place. We only need to look back at history to see the proof. That’s the real message.
