The Democratic Party of New Mexico hosted one final debate Sunday afternoon among the candidates vying for the party’s nomination in the special election to fill the Congressional seat left vacant when Deb Haaland became Secretary of Interior.
Members of the party’s State Central Committee will choose the nominee through online voting Tuesday. If no candidate gets a majority of votes, the party will hold runoff elections on subsequent days until one candidate earns a majority of votes.
Whoever Dems pick, they will run against Republican State Senator Mark Moores who was selected by the Republican Party’s Central Committee over the weekend.
