UPDATED: Four Officers Injured, Schools on Lockdown

Officials with Albuquerque police confirm they are responding to a “critical incident” where four officers have been shot and injured near Juan Tabo Blvd. between Constitution Ave. and Lomas Blvd around 10:00 am today.

According to Albuquerque Public Schools, Manzano, Kennedy, Jackson, McCollum, and Chelwood have been placed under a shelter-in-place according to a tweet from APS.

Police Chief Harold Medina said one officer is in critical condition after being shot above his vest. One officer was shot in the arm, while another was struck in his bullet-proof vest. The fourth officer was injured by shrapnel or glass.

Officers have begun to station themselves at UNMH's Emergency Room and a Police Chaplain was seen arriving at the hospital.
