11 People Stabbed In Random Attack

Police Say Stabbings Were in Multiple Locations


Late Sunday afternoon, Albuquerque Police responded to calls of several people stabbed in the area of Central Ave. and Wyoming Blvd. Investigators say the stabbing spree started Downtown at Sister Bar and eventually they were investigating seven different scenes around the city. According to a spokesperson from APD, one of the scenes was a homeless encampment.

The locations of the stabbings are as follows:


Officers in the Valley Area Command initially responded at 11:15am to a report of a stabbing in the area of Central Ave. and 5th St NW near Sister Bar. A man suffered a laceration to the hand and was treated at a local hospital. The offender was reported to be riding a small BMX bike and armed with a large knife.

UNM Area

About an hour later, at 12:12pm, police received a call of a victim who was stabbed in the arm by an offender on a bike in the area of Central Ave. and Yale Ave. SE. The victim was transported to the hospital.


Around 1pm, police received a call about a male who was stabbed on the sidewalk in front of the Sundowner Apartments at 6101 Central Ave. NE.


Police received a call at 1:54pm about a man who was stabbed in the neck in the area of Central Ave. and Pennsylvania St. NE.


Another call came in at 2pm about an offender attempting to stab customers at the Circle-K, located at 8601 Central Ave. NE. Officers showed up immediately and discovered multiple stabbing victims. The offender reportedly fled northbound on Wyoming.


Police also received a call about 2pm about a stabbing at Central Ave. and Vermont.


Another victim was stabbed by an offender on a bike in the area of Wyoming Blvd. and Domingo Rd. NE outside of a restaurant.

Although no one was killed, two people are in critical condition. The wounds from the attacks ranged from facial lacerations to more serious wounds.

A man was taken into custody near Lomas and Wyoming NE, but police have not released his name or any charges he may face. The man had a knife near him at the time he was arrested, APD said. The police also say there does not seem to be any connection between the victims or the seven locations where the stabbings occurred.
