New Mexico’s breweries walked away big on Saturday at the Great American Beer Festival. Ex Novo Brewery, Marble Brewery, Ponderosa Brewery, and Second St. Brewery all placed in their respective categories. This year the competition was held during the Craft Brewers Conference in Denver, Colorado.

Over 9,600 brews were submitted to the competition this year from 2,192 breweries from all 50 states. Th brews were evaluated by 170 lucky judges.

Albuquerque’s Ponderosa Brewing was awarded a gold medal for their Italian Pilsner in the Hoppy Lager category. Second St. Brewery was awarded a silver medal for their Octoberforest in the German-Style Maerzen category. Corrales’ Ex Novo Brewing Company walked away with gold for their Threat Level: Turquoise in the American-Style Strong Pale Ale category. Marble Brewing also walked away with silver for their East Side Special in the Extra Special Bitter category.

This year’s competition was the largest to date with 97 beer categories over 175 beer styles.
