While men in New Mexico don’t necessarily have to own a private plane in order to land a date with the woman of their dreams, the dating pool in the Duke City may be a bit more competitive than it is in the rest of the country if recent survey results are to be believed. It’s not exactly shocking that women who have grown accustomed to the spiciest cuisine in the nation might also have slightly more selective taste in men.
According to a recent DatingNews.com survey, women in New Mexico may have dating standards that are slightly above average when compared to women in other states. They surveyed 3,000 single women aged 18-35.
The survey asked participants whether they would consider dating men with salaries under six figures or men they consider below-average in the looks department. Nationwide, 17% of the survey respondents said that they wouldn’t consider it.
The numbers among New Mexican women were slightly higher: 18% of them said they would only date an attractive man with a big bank account.
There is still a glimmer of hope for those of us with skinny wallets or even those who don’t look great sporting a pair of skinny jeans.
Amber Brooks, chief editor of DatingNews.com says, “While financial and physical attributes hold significant sway in today’s dating scene, a great personality remains paramount for the majority of single women, according to our survey.”
Women were also asked to rank the attributes they find most attractive in a man. Here is what New Mexican women want:
1. A great personality
2. A substantial salary
3. Good looks
4. Living in an expensive property
5. Having their own Wikipedia page
6. Ownership of a private plane
