Albuquerque’s Dissatisfied describe themselves as a crust punk band, and they definitely fit the criteria for the genre – heavy riffs with tons of distortion, fast tempos and vocals that blend clean singing with elements of more extreme genres such as grindcore and death metal. They also embrace a DIY work ethic, booking tons of underground shows and producing primitive recordings that sound really good. Their first demo was recorded on drummer and former vocalist Beevo’s phone while it stood on a pizza box. Beevo was 12 when he did his first show at Longhair Records roughly three years ago, and they have played a lot in their short lifespan (both as a band and as humans). The guys in Dissatisfied also run NMAP (New Mexico Anarcho Punks), an underground organization that books everything from punk and harsh noise to grind and hardcore. With Beevo on the sticks, Anson on guitar and Max on vocals, you’re gonna hear about as much authentic crust punk as you can get for a cheap admission price. Most of their shows are less than $10 to get in. With new bands such as Dissatisfied keeping the underground scene alive in The Duke City, it’s easy to be optimistic about the future of subversive, politically driven punk rock in 2025 and beyond.
Will you describe your sound for us?
Our sound is raw D-beat noize.
What are your favorite venues to play and why?
Our favorite venues to play are Wagon Wheel (RIP), Longhair Records, Black Wall, Olla Olla Crepes (Phoenix) and Cornish Pasty (Flagstaff, AZ).
What are your lyrics about?
Our lyrics mainly consist of anti-war themes, a lot of which are focusing on the current wars in Palestine/Israel. We are a very politically charged band.
What bands or genres inspire your music?
The bands that inspire us all the most as a collective are Totalitär, Discharge, Disclose and Lanquid.
Our own separate inspirations are:
Anson: Meanwhile, Syrgas and Destruct.
Beevo: Physique, TK from Royal Drug, (Any “Dis” Band).
Max: Aspects of War, Antisect, Chuck Berry.

What is the best show you have ever played and why?
The best show that we ever played was the Flagstaff show in Arizona with Dismay and I//V. The second best show was in a basement at our friend’s house.
[Beevo says] the best show we ever played was probably our first ever gig in Arizona. It was more than worth the six-hour drive with no practice, Flagstaff rules! The energy was intense, we didn’t sound the best that night, and Anson broke one of his strings halfway through our set! Shoutout to I//V (Institutional Violence) and their guitarist for letting us borrow a whole guitar! They recently released a demo that sounds amazing! Dismay also played that night, and the room was shaking! I was honestly surprised that no glass was shattered. They really know how to put on a show.
